Five Of Us, One Piano

Who you are actually booking, and why the piano sits at the front rather than behind the drums.

Who you are booking

The Five Of Us

We met through Leeds Conservatoire and have been playing together as Watchtower since early 2025. All five of us still gig, record, teach or produce outside this band.

Sam, vocals and piano in Watchtower, on stage

Sam

Vocals and piano

Grew up in York. Got drum lessons at eleven, then spent his teens trying to work out Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano, which is not the easiest place to start. Played drums in half a dozen bands before deciding he would rather be at the front. A first class degree in music production from Leeds Conservatoire, and he still produces and writes for other artists between weddings. Queen, The Beatles, The Killers and Oasis are all in there. He looks forward to Don’t Stop Me Now every time, even though it is hard, and he brings the dad dancing where the night calls for it.

Louie, lead guitar and backing vocals in Watchtower, on stage

Louie

Lead guitar and backing vocals

From Penrith, and picked up his dad’s guitar at nine and spent every weekend at a rock school after that. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Steely Dan, which tells you roughly what his solos sound like. A popular music degree from Leeds Conservatoire, two albums recorded with two different bands, and a day job as a special needs teaching assistant. I Wish is his song in the set. He only took up guitar because nobody would let him have the drums.

Sam, bass in Watchtower, on stage

Sam

Bass

Nottinghamshire born, and a Leeds Conservatoire graduate. Music started in GCSE music making tracks in GarageBand and never stopped. Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Jamiroquai and Casiopea, which is why the basslines do more than sit on the root note. He plays a Precision bass he built himself alongside a G&L and a Stingray. September is his favourite thing in the set, because that bassline gets everybody up, and he is, for the record, top 300 in the UK at Mario Kart Wii.

Morgan, drums and backing vocals in Watchtower, on stage

Morgan

Drums and backing vocals

Started on drums at six in a primary school rock band, trained as a classical pianist at the Leeds Conservatoire young musicians academy, and was gigging round York through his teens. He now holds a first class degree, a research masters and a masters in further education, lectures in music and works as a community musician for several charities. Raised on Foo Fighters, Blink 182 and Nirvana, later pulled into jazz, classical and brass band writing. He has played the Leeds O2 and arranged for a brass band that toured Europe. Brings water, a cowbell and jokes.

Tom, rhythm guitar in Watchtower, on stage

Tom

Rhythm guitar

Grew up in the Lake District on whatever his parents had in the car, which was mostly Muse, Biffy Clyro and the Chili Peppers. Given a guitar at ten and gigging not long after. Studied at Kendal College and Leeds College of Music, and teaches guitar when he is not playing. Proudest of supporting Arms Length at a sold out Key Club. Sex On Fire is his one in the set, and he has a soft spot for 2000s pop that he is not ashamed of.

The Acoustic Set

The same five people round the piano, with no drums and no wall of sound, for the part of the day when your guests are talking rather than dancing.

Where It Fits

Couples book it for the drinks reception, for the wedding breakfast, or occasionally for the ceremony itself. It goes on before the main evening set and is arranged as an extra on the same booking.

Because it is the same five people, there is no second band to brief, no second load in and no second contract.

Insured, Tested, Contracted

£10 million of public liability cover, and every piece of equipment PAT tested annually. The certificates come to you and go to your venue when you book, rather than being dug out at the last minute. Every booking is confirmed on a written contract with a named contact, and you pay by the plan that suits you, whether that is the standard 50/50, four stages or monthly.
